Sorry, but I don't know what caused the error to occur. I can tell you how to fix it if you are still having the problem or run into it again. Go to the database in your admin client or using the Lotus Notes workspace. Select the database and either right click to select properties (admin client) or select File->Database->Properties on the Notes client. The fourth field down is TYPE... set that to Standard and you will be good to go.
Like I said, I don't know what caused it but I bumped into it today and that is how I fixed it for my user. If anyone does know how that got set by all means post it, because I would like to know too.
